Ron and Topher Conway are the father and son duo behind SV Angel and we’re thrilled to announce that they will be joining us for a live onstage interview at Disrupt SF.
SV Angel is an early-stage investment company that has invested in companies like the new product aggregation site Product Hunt, the hot startup mattress company Casper and the HR startup Zenefits. Oh, and not to mention heavyweights like Twitter, Foursquare, Flipboard, Dropbox, and Airbnb, which are all also found in SV Angel’s investment portfolio.
The company takes a unique approach to investments by not accepting board seats on companies they’ve funded, and investing in a broad array of companies.
That methodology was pioneered by Ron Conway, who founded SV Angel in 2009. He used that approach for over 15 years with his previous outlet, Angel Investors LP Funds, which invested in companies like Google, Ask Jeeves and PayPal, and that approach has stuck with him in the transition to SV Angel, where he serves as both the founder and co-managing partner. Ron was previously the co-founder, president and CEO of Altos Computer Systems, and served in various marketing positions at the National Semiconductor Corporation in the 1970s.
His son, Topher, was recently named co-managing partner at SV Angel after long-time SV Angel managing partner David Lee stepped down in May. Topher was recently named one of Forbes’ top 30 under 30 venture capitalists, and the 29-year-old looks poised to take over SV Angel once his father is ready to retire. At SV Angel, Topher has worked closely with Niche, URX, Bluebox and Zenefits, and before that worked in business development and sales at EQAL.
We can’t wait to hear what Ron and Topher have to say about how SV Angel will move forward in light of Lee’s departure. Ron told us at Disrupt NY 2012 that SV Angel is David Lee’s fund, and stepped away from the day to day operations of the fund. With his new role as co-managing partner with his son, it appears Ron will be back in the thick of things.
Come and hear the father-son duo at Disrupt SF 2015, which takes place September 21-23 at San Francisco’s historic Pier 70. Extra early bird tickets are now available through June 19, and you can secure your spot at the show by buying your ticket here.
Of course, we are always looking for great sponsors to help make Disrsupt the wonderful show that it is, and you can learn more about becoming a sponsor by reaching out to our sponsorship team here.
